Accelerating Immersion Cooling Through Cross-Industry Collaboration

Immersion cooling is gaining momentum every day, and it’s exciting to see how different sectors are considering this technology.
The GICA board members made an important decision in 2025: GICA has adopted a cross-industry approach to accelerate the adoption of immersion cooling.
Our mission at Global Immersion Cooling Association (GICA) is now to foster cross-industry exchange around immersion cooling to make it happen at scale across various sectors.
As data centers and BESS are entering a new industrial era, with the need for liquid cooling technologies as well as industrialization, quality, testing, and supply chain readiness, GICA — with its automotive background — can help these industries adopt immersion cooling for better performance and safety.

For example, immersion cooling is still a niche percentage in data centers but is expected to grow quickly alongside cold plate cooling. The combination of these technologies creates new possibilities in the race toward densities higher than 150 kW/rack, as shown in the graph below.

Immersion cooling adoption in data centers is expected to accelerate within the next 18 months.

In the data center market, immersion cooling not only delivers strong cooling performance, but it also brings a real OPEX advantage by reducing energy consumption, lowering maintenance needs, and increasing chipset lifetime.
Combined, this can improve TCO by at least 20% while also reducing overall data center energy consumption.
Immersion cooling will take off soon in data centers, and GICA will be here to bring its unique member capabilities to help create this success.
